Questions

How does active.games decide a game looks abandoned?
It checks Steam every day for public builds, beta-branch builds and patch notes. A game shows here when none of those has appeared for over 365 days. It's a signal, not a ruling: some developers work quietly on a big update.
Can a game on this list come back?
Yes. As soon as a new build or patch note appears on Steam, the game drops off this list on the next daily check, and its game page shows the new date.
Should I buy an Early Access game with no updates in a year?
Buy it only if you'd be happy with it exactly as it is today. Open the game's page to see its full update history and whether it ever kept a steady schedule.
