Consistency is a 0–100 score of how steadily a game was updated, in UTC. The window is the last 12 calendar months, including this month, or the months since its Early Access release when that is shorter. The window is never shorter than one month, and a missing release date uses the full 12 months. Games that entered Early Access less than three months ago aren't scored yet and show as Too new to rate.
Up to 70 points are coverage. Each month in the window with a patch note counts as a full month. A month with only builds, on the public or a beta branch, counts as half, because a build with no notes says less about what changed. The total is divided by the number of months in the window and multiplied by 70.
Up to 30 points are regularity, which looks at every update day (a unique UTC day with a patch note or a branch build time). Fewer than three update days scores none. Otherwise the points are 30 times one minus the coefficient of variation of the gaps between those days (the population standard deviation divided by the mean, capped at 1), including the open gap from the last update day to today when it is at least one day. When the median gap is 7 days or less and an update day falls within the last 14 days, regularity receives the full 30 points. The published score rounds the sum and clamps it from 0 to 100.
Lists and game pages lead with the tier. A five-segment meter sits with the score, from 0 to 100. Steam's branch data only includes the current build time, so a month can be missed when that build was replaced and no patch note was posted.
