Draft. This is a template, not legal advice.

Who this covers

active.games is a directory of Steam Early Access games, operated by the active.games team. This draft describes the data the site handles today. Advertising cookies are not in use.

What the catalog stores

Game records come from public Steam pages and APIs: names, developers, tags, artwork URLs, review summaries, player counts, patch notes, and branch build times. That information is about games, not about you. Browsing the catalog does not require an account.

Server logs

The host that serves the site (planned: Vercel) may keep standard server logs. Those logs can include your IP address, user agent, the URL you requested, and the time of the request. They are used to operate and debug the site, and to rate-limit the contact form. They are not sold.

Cookies

The catalog does not set a cookie to remember filters. Filters, including whether AI-disclosed games are shown, live in the page address. The contact form does not store your message in a cookie.

A consent banner exists in the code and is off. The analytics below does not set a cookie, so the banner is not required for it. The banner stays off until advertising cookies are added. If it is turned on, accepting or rejecting it would set one first-party cookie named ag_consent so the site can remember that choice. Rejecting it would not block the catalog.

Analytics

The site uses Vercel Web Analytics. It is cookieless and privacy-friendly. It records aggregate page views, referrer, country, and device. It does not use cross-site tracking, and it does not build an advertising profile.

Vercel Speed Insights is installed alongside it. It records aggregate page-speed measurements (Core Web Vitals) without cookies and without cross-site tracking.

Contact form

If you write through the contact form, we send your name, email address, topic, and message with Resend. Your email is used as the reply-to address so a response can reach you. It is not shown on the site.

The form asks Cloudflare Turnstile to check that the submission came from a person. That check sends a token, and Cloudflare may process your IP address under its own policy. A hidden field and a short waiting period are also used to drop automated submissions. Repeated submissions from the same IP are throttled. Messages are not written into the game database and do not change scores.

Future ads and sponsored content

Sponsored placements are not shown unless a separate switch is turned on. If they are, they will be labeled Sponsored, and the link will use rel="sponsored nofollow". A sponsorship does not change a game's score, label, or sort position. Advertising cookies, if a network is added later, will wait for the consent banner. This policy will be updated before either of those ships.

How to ask a privacy question

Use the contact form and choose General. Do not put passwords or payment card numbers in the message.
