Every run in School of Magic is about building a new hack and slash character from scratch, but the level system is a deckbuilding card game. With each level, your spell pool grows and mutates into a unique skill tree, leading to outrageous broken builds.
The developer filed this on the Steam store page. It is not a guess by active.games.

School of Magic: Deck & Slash last posted a patch note 10 months ago (Dec 15, 2025: Patch Notes – v0.9.19 (opens in new tab)).
It got about one update every 2 months over the last year and is rarely updated (12/100). 2 of the last 12 months had at least one update day. Not enough of a cadence to call it regular.
Yes, it looks that way. There have been no builds or patch notes in over 180 days, or none on record at all.
School of Magic: Deck & Slash: 5 updates in the last 12 months, avg every 10 days. The chart shows the last 12 months, including months with zero patch notes. Counts are dated patch and update posts, not branch builds. The Early Access release on 2025-11-10 falls inside this window.
