# active.games

> Directory of Steam Early Access games and whether each one is still being updated.

active.games is operated by the active.games team. It covers the full Early Access catalog. Genre hubs are a curated list of gameplay genres with at least one scored, non-AI game. Free to Play is included. Early Access, Indie, and Casual are not hubs. Massively Multiplayer redirects to MMO. Survival crafting is one hub, not the whole site.

## How a game is labeled

Latest activity is the newest of the public branch build time, any other branch build time, and an update or patch-note post. Beta branches count.

- Actively updated: under 90 days
- Slowing down: 90 days through 180 days, including both boundaries
- Gone quiet: older than 180 days, or no signal

Consistency is shown as a band (80–100 Very consistent, 60–79 Consistent, 40–59 Irregular, 20–39 Sporadic, 0–19 Rarely updated) with the 0–100 number beside it. The number covers the last 12 calendar months in UTC. Up to 70 points are coverage: months with at least one update day, divided by 12. An update day is a unique UTC day with a patch note or a branch build time. Up to 30 points are regularity of the gaps between those days, including the open gap to today when it is at least one day, using the population standard deviation divided by the mean. Fewer than three update days scores no regularity. The published score rounds the sum and clamps it from 0 to 100. Steam only exposes the current build time per branch, not older builds.

## AI-disclosed games

A game is AI-disclosed only when the developer filled in Steam's AI Generated Content Disclosure. Lists hide those games unless the URL contains ai=1. Game pages still exist and quote the disclosure. This is not a classifier. Developers who skip the form are not flagged.

Game pages use the title "Is [Game] still being updated?" and answer in the first sentence. Sponsored placements, when enabled, are labeled and do not change scores. The site is not affiliated with Valve.
